Tarzan (1966)
Overview
Airing on NBC from 1966 to 1968, Tarzan reimagines the iconic character as an educated man who chooses the jungle over civilization. The series embraces familiar aspects from classic films, featuring the beloved chimp Cheeta, but notably omits Jane as part of a fresh take on the legendary figure. Producer Sy Weintraub had previously introduced this new interpretation in earlier films starring Gordon Scott, Jock Mahoney, and Mike Henry. The show’s episodes saw a revival when CBS aired reruns in the summer of 1969, offering audiences a chance to rediscover Tarzan's adventures.
